The North American Mission Board exists to work with churches, associations and state conventions in mobilizing Southern Baptists as a missional force to impact North America with the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and church planting. We accomplish that through Send North America, our national strategy for mobilizing churches to plant churches and mobilizing church planters and other missionaries to assist with those efforts.

Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) was organized in 1845 as like-minded churches joined forces to accomplish more together for Christ's Kingdom than what they could do by themselves. A distinctive of the denomination is that each church, association, and state convention or fellowship is autonomous, but agrees with basic beliefs (see the Baptist Faith and Message) and gives as led to the Cooperative Program which supports over 5,000 missionaries in North America and over 5,000 missionaries serving in countries.

IMB's (International Mission Board's) mission is to make disciples of all peoples in fulfillment of the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20. Over 6,000 people groups - 1.7 billion people - still live with little or no access to the Gospel. IMB is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation's largest evangelical denomination, claiming more than 40,000 churches with nearly 16 million members.

Since its organization in 1845 in Augusta, Georgia, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has grown to over 16 million members who worship in more than 45,000 churches in the United States. Southern Baptists sponsor about 5,000 missionaries serving the United States and its territories, Canada, and the Caribbean, as well as sponsoring more than 5,000 foreign missionaries in 153 nations of the world.
